Please join us on Sunday, October 18 for The Pink Fund's  (http://www.thepinkfund.org) 1st Annual October Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fund-Raising Event!

 It will be an afternoon of fun, fashion, information, delicious food, great prizes and an opportunity to participate and help men/women in Michigan who are presently going through breast cancer therapy, and are unable to meet their basic monthly living expenses!

  Our program begins promptly at 12N!  During lunch, there will be a 2009 Fall/Winter Fashion Show, featuring exclusive women's apparel by Doncaster, http://www.doncaster.com .  This show will also showcase jewelry by Michigan's own Marlaina Stone http://www.marlainastone.com and high fashion eyewear currently offered at Clavenna Vision Institute, http://www.clavennaeye.com  Optik, http://www.optikbirmingham.com and Optimeyes, www.drkontry.com 

Guest speakers include Dr. Daniel Sherbert http://www.dsherbertmd.com and Dr. Jen Green http://www.ndaccess.com/drjengreen/ both of West Bloomfield, MI

All proceeds raised from the luncheon will directly benefit Michigan breast cancer patients who are in active treatment and having difficulty meeting their monthly bills.

The Pink Fund

The Pink Fund's Mission is to provide short-term financial aid in the form of direct bill payments for breast cancer patients in active treatment who have lost their stream of income.   The support can come in many different forms :  a car payment, house or rent payment,  COBRA or personal health insurance, car insurance or utility payment.   The  Pink  Fund does not make payments for any medical treatments, drugs, co-pays, deductibles, prosthesis, etc. 

  Short term financial aid is defined as :  a period of three months.   The  Pink  Fund does not provide monies directly to the recipient; rather the recipient provides bills to  The  Pink  Fund to be paid directly on The recipient's account.   If recipient needs financial aid for greater than three Months they can request an extension,  (subject upon approval by the  Pink  Fund board ).   The maximum time aid can be received by any one individual is a six-month period.

 Active treatment is defined as the period after positive diagnosis of breast cancer has been made, and a surgical procedure has taken place.   Surgical procedure is defined as a single or bi-lateral mastectomy, lumpectomy, axillaries disseciton or sentinel node biopsy.   Secondly, you are currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation or biological therapy.   Please note that any complications from Surgery,  (i.e., blood clots, staph infections, lymphadema, etc. ) are not considered as part of being in active treatment for breast cancer.   In addition, subsequent surgery for related items like reconstrucito of the breast (s ), ovary removal, and any associated related complications also do not qualify you For assistance from  The  Pink  Fund.
